My name is Jessica. I'm a mom, a wife, and a business co-owner for a CBD company, Empire CBD. I'm 35 years old, I'm married to a man that supports me through everything (even when we're ready to kill each other), and we have 6 KIDS!! And a dog, can't forget the dog, because we weren't already busy enough! We live in Upstate NY, yuck, but our family is mostly here so I guess we're stuck for a while, and truthfully I would miss the season change and snow for Christmas, just then though...because snow is evil. I love my kids, even when I want to duct tape them to a wall, but I need a new outlet. So here we are! Let's see if this blog can help keep me sane, while hopefully helping other people find ideas or solutions to their crazy lives. More on me in my "Introducing ME!" blog.
About Our Empire
Girl meets Boy, again
My husband, Yardley, and I met February 9, 2019, his birthday, on a sort of blind date set up by our close friends. We had actually met a few times over the couple years before, but we were both married to other people and barely paid attention to each other's existence then. Newly single, our friends thought it would be fun to play matchmaker. Well, needless to say, it worked! We got married July 4, 2020, my husband is a Army Vet so a patriotic 4th of July wedding felt right. Is our marriage perfect? Hell no! Far from it. I mean, is anyone's? We're STILL trying to figure it all out, sometimes marriage seems impossible, but I know we would both walk through fire for each other. We're constantly learning new things about each other, and ourselves. What fun is it without someone to share your crazy with?! I have no regrets and I never will. 4 years and counting.....
Combining Our Chaos
When we got together we DEFINITELY came with "baggage". Not just our ex's, but I came into the relationship with 3 kids, all girls, and he came with 2 kids, 1 boy and 1 girl. Cutest "baggage" ever!!! Combining the kids was interesting to say the least. My 2 youngest, 1 and 2 years old, didn't really understand and just rolled with it all. The 3 older kids were a little tougher, but they eventually realized that we weren't trying to take the other parents' place, we just wanted a small place to love them and be there as a "bonus." The kids didn't waste any time in getting along and starting to team up against us.
April 15, 2020 our beautiful surprise was born. We had talked about having a baby together before, but it didn't stop the shock from hitting when we found out she was coming! The kids were sooooooo excited, and that little girl has all of her 5 older siblings wrapped around her little finger still!
Our Little Empire
The first couple years together, as a family, were just exhausting honestly. I started working for my husband at his CBD store and we were doing events and fairs constantly, getting to know each other and the kids, living with 7 people in 1 house, eventually 8 people, for the first time, and then 2020 hit and Covid shut the world down. My husband kept the business going with deliveries and online sales while I did my best to juggle "teaching" our kids and juggling 2 toddlers and a newborn. Our wedding was at the tail end of the shut down, so we had a small wedding in our backyard, with maybe 20 people, and it ended up being better than the one we had started planning before everything closed.
Life kept moving, I must have blinked, because now our baby girl is going to be 3 in a few weeks and our oldest will be a teenager in July, I am NOT prepared for that. Wish me luck! I'm going to need it!!
Our Big Empire
My husband started Empire CBD when he saw the amazing results it gave him, and his family. After 3 battles with Cancer, losing his stomach and colon, aggressive pain medications and antidepressants, learning about a genetic disorder he, and his 2 kids, have, Yardley went searching for a way to help them and hopefully find some relief from the symptoms. His cousin told him to try CBD and the results were astonishing!! He started taking the oil and found relief from some of his pain, and as he increased the dosage of oil he found more pain relief and eventually less anxiety. After a while he was able to completely wean off all pain meds and even stop taking Xanax after being on it daily for years!!! After seeing those results he started giving his kids CBD gummies. At the age of 7 his son had 10 polyps in his stomach and colon and his daughter, 5 years old, had 7 polyps. The following year, at the kids coloscopy appointments, his son had 1 polyp and his daughter had 0!
Now Yardley was determined to spread the word and help as many people as possible!!
And with that, an "Empire" was born.
